We will look a some of the research supporting free play and look at ways that you can support free play in your homeschool environment.  We will be delving into topics including: Defining Play, The Benefits of Play, The Adventure Playground Movement, Play for Play’s Sake, Nicholson’s Loose Parts Theory, Tim Gill’s Risks vs. Benefits, The Adulteration of Play, and The Beauty of Conflict. Participants will be encouraged to share their ideas and enjoy a short video presentation of children playing in an environment enriched with loose parts.
